Get Blogging Now

My friend Ajeet from DP forums wrote this post

Isn't it amazing how blogging has really penetrated the market and now everyone wants a blog? Indeed blogs have become so common that one can no longer sidestep them. Take for example all these friends I have who run their own blogs: Nicole, Helen Constantine, Mickey Temp, Sharon Steele, Dave Abigail, Kathy Bright, Casper DoGood, Charlene Coop, Edwina Warner, Gina Turner, Glenn Alvarez, Eva Gardner. And then of course there are those who are running several services on their blogs. For instance: Directory Owners Interview Blog, Web sites review, Major blog, Tamale Pie. Clearly the epoch of the blogs is here.

The reason that TIME magazine selected YOU as the person of the year was because of the power of citizen journalism -- primarily driven by blogs. So, what are you wasting your time for? Go over to one of the free services like blogger or some other, or get your own word press blog.

What is very lovely about the blogosphere is the way you can actually generate an avalanche of a response to your thoughts. Just be true to yourself and post something that you truly believe in. And quite literally, you are "the man" or "the woman" for that purpose.

Of course, if you are a techno-repelled person, you will face some initial hesitation in getting this entire process going. Not a problem, blogging technology is notoriously easy to use. In many senses it is an entry level content management system. Something like a CMS for the masses.

If you do not possess your own blog, then now is a good time to do so. Look at some of my other friends who run their own blogs: Mike Horner, Tyran Mike, Noel Page, Ted Nestle, Terresa Hopkins, Zoe Martini, Ajeet Khurana, Joy, Kendall, Madlaine, Maria, and get a good plan for what you could do.

Website Review : Dublin Guide

Dublin Guide is a website dedicated to the Irish capital. The home page has a short history and some interesting facts about the city itself. There are also links to a selection of books which would be useful to anyone who was visiting the city - things such as tourist guides and maps. There is a section dedicated to Irish Adventures which gives information about the attraction in the area such as the surrounding countryside and garden tours. There is useful information about the Dublin Tourist Offices which gives the location and details of the type of information available from the tourist offices. What I liked about Dublin Guide was that it was neatly organised and not overwhelmingly full of information. It just provided a useful overview of what visiting Dublin would be like.

Website Review : Spy Review

Spy Review is a blog all about spy gadgets. There are posts on a variety of categories including the BBC TV show Bugs (I used to love it!), surveillance and spy cameras, gadgets and even spys in the news. There are articles on everything that any spy fan (or wannabe spy!) would be interested in. The articles are lengthy and informative as well as being clearly written. They have a friendly tone, which I like and also photographs which makes the site easy on the eye. I was particularly drawn to the article about GPS trackers for children. Having young children myself it is tempting to have the peace of mind that I would always know where they were. They can be hidden in clothing and be traced globally from your web browser. I think this is a great idea as long as the children are aware that you were doing it and your reasons behind it.

Website Review : Beboinfo

Bebo is a social networking website. It could be a great opportunity to find booksellers or children's book collectors. However, there could be difficulties with using this website if you are not at home as some companies feel that they do not want to have their employees use a social networking sites and they therefore block them. However, there is software available which will unblock Bebo and therefore mean that you can continue to use it, even when you are in an environment which usually bans it. In order to do this you may need to download some software - there are full instructions on the Bebo website as to how to unblock it.

Amazon Shop

We now have an Amazon shop where we sell a selection of books. So if you want to see what other books we have available then please take a look.

Rare Topsy and Tim Titles

We have some rare Topsy and Tim Blackie paperbacks for sale at the moment. These are Topsy and Tim go Sailing and Topsy and Tim go to a Football match. We hae a few other of their titles as well. these adorable stories are about twins who have all sorts of lovely adventures and the stories always introduce the readers to useful concepts. These two books have not been reprinted so are much sought after.

Ant and Bee book

We have a copy of Ant and Bee and the Rainbow by Angela Banner. It is a small hardback book which introduces children to colours. This series is very sought after and these lovely little books are very rare. This is a 1992 reprint with a laminated cover, which tend to be more popular than the original first editions with dustwrappers - probably because the first editions tend to have more wear.

New Books

I have finished listing my new stock on ebay, the books included were some by Judith Kerr, Allan Ahlberg and Maurice Sendak. You can find the items listed in my ebay shop.

Blog Contests

For anyone reading this who has their own blog, you may be interested to know about the website Blog Contests. It lists contests open to bloggers and run by bloggers and you don't even need your own blog to enter all of them.
