Selling Books for a Living

I have been selling book sonline ofr over 5 years now. I have been doing it part time and finding that is not bringing in a great deal of money. It is making me just a bit of pocket money really which is why I am now doing extra things to earn money as well. I often wonder how book shop owners manage to keep going when they have far larger overheads and have to hold more stock. I have always liked the idea of owning a book shop but I do not think that it would be a worth while business move for me.

We have just gone out of stock on the above title. However, I have ordered more copies and as soon as they arrive they will be made available for sale. The book is the story of when Joey visits India and although it is not by E M Brent-Dyer it was written using some notes that she had made with regards to what Joey did while she was in India. As a seller on eBay I find it useful to share my advice with others who want to do the same thing. I think that as a seller the best thing that you can do is to build up a good reputation. This not only increases your chance of selling but can help you to get a higher selling price for your items. It does take a while to build up a reputation but as long as you can get some good feedback as soon as possible then it will all help to get things going. I provide the level of service that I woudl expect to receive and it seems to working well.

Everyone seems to be shopping adly in the sales this year - I have never known it so busy just after Christmas! We are not planning on having a sale yet as I am too busy at the moment. I expect that I will have a go at selling off some old stock some time this year but I am not sure when I will get some time to be able to do it at the moment.

New Year

Our sales normally increase in October and November and go quiet in December and January. This year trends are very different and we were selling right up to Christmas and we are still selling well in January. It seems like people left Christmas shopping late this year and have decided to keep on spending after Christmas. Running an online business can be really tricky as it is not easy to know where to advertise. My Business Goals

I mentioned in a post yesterday that I was setting my business goals for the year. As I have several projects as well as this one then they tend to be general across all of them. Basically I have calculated how much money I need to contribute to the household income each month and I will work hard each month to ensure that my combined earnings from each project reach this target. It is a high target and I am hoping to surpass it as we have some other expenses this year too, so I will be working hard.

Sale....or Not!

If you are hoping for a Bowbridge sale I am afraid you will have to wait a while. at the moment I do not have the time to search through the stock and select sale items and then list them up on eBay. As our Christmas holidays were busy I did not have the time to do this. I am afraid I am not planning a sale in the near future.
